13th March 2016 – Flagz mas band launch
Flagz mas band will be presenting their Notting Hill Carnival 2016 costumes on Sunday March 13th.
On Sunday the 13th of March Boxpark will be transformed into a mini Caribbean festival, with carnival costumes on show, DJs playing the soca music (Caribbean music genre heard at the carnival) and with performances from UK soca and calypso musicians as well as donor drive for the Race Against Cancer charity. BoxPark and Flagz Mas Band, who have had a costume float every at the carnival, have teamed up to put on a efree Notting Hill Carnival showcase in celebration of the carnival’s 50th anniversary.
Eon Pyle, Flagz Mas Band founder and leader hopes to use the event to change the general public’s perception of the infamous Notting Hill Carnival with this event. “It is an opportunity for the general public to see how the carnival works and get involved with carnivals bands”

This August marks 50 years of Notting Hill Carnival, Europe’s biggest street festival. Over 300 people are expected to attend the free event, which takes place in Shoreditch, event-goers will be able to take part in a Caribbean themed photoshoot and of course sample classic Caribbean cuisine such as Rice and Peas with Jerk Chicken.
This one-off event hopes to educate and unite the audiences, BoxPark “It gives us great pleasure to welcome Flagz Mas Band to Boxpark as part of our extensive events programme.
